Most owners/operators have little and sometimes no real idea why a family or staff member leaves their schools. They may find out a few days later while reading an unpleasant online review, or, more likely than not, they’ll always be left wondering.
Most people, especially in the Early Childcare and Education industry, do not like conflict. So, when an owner/operator asks a Director why a family or staff member left, they may respond that “the family is moving” or “the baby is going to be staying with their grandma now.” For a staff member, we’ve heard that “they took a job that’s in their field” or “they’re working on themselves” or “they found a job that pays more.” For Directors, it can be easier to tell a small fib as opposed to getting to the root cause of the issue and upsetting the owner/operator further.
This inevitably leads to owners/operators playing the “what if” game. What if I had known the source of my staff and family’s discontentment? What if there was a way to fix this problem for next time?
IC360 has a solution that won’t have you playing the “what if” game. Our ECE Exit Interview solution attempts to uncover the root cause of why your staff and families have chosen to leave your school. Conducted by a neutral third party, our ECE Exit Interviews allow staff and families to speak openly and freely about their experience. This solution also provides owners/operators with
A family leaving is not always negative!
Many times we know people have genuine reasons for leaving like a new job, grandparents returning to the area etc. This is an opportunity for IC360 to help you gain outstanding family and staff testimonials you can use on your website, social media or the like!
Included in your IC360 Membership
Something that we always tell our members is, “We are an extension of your team.” When one of your staff members or families leaves your school for a negative reason, we want to know why just as much as you and make sure this situation doesn’t happen again. That’s why at no extra cost to you, we will reach out to the individual or family to get to the root cause of the issue. You have up to two Exit Interviews a month that you can use for staff and or families. If you do seek additional ones, we would be glad to support them at a nominal fee.
Getting to Root Cause
Getting to the root cause of an issue is critical to you and your team. If you only fix the perceived solution, how can you ever see success in dramatically reducing your turnover of staff and families? These root causes can be of monumental importance to the future success of your schools!
Third-party Non-bias
At Inspire Care 360, we care about you, our Member. We will always work to build your trust. As your advocate in the ECE industry, it is important that we get to you the root cause. Quite often, a former family member or staff member feels more comfortable telling a third-party outside firm who is asking on behalf of the company as to one of your Directors, staff members, or even you. Again, whether positive or negative, they had a relationship with you. We have not, and it is simply easier for them to tell us the real issues.
Repair Relationships
Reaching out to the individual or family who left your school shows that you care. They weren’t just a number; they were part of your team and school. At times, the reason could have been a miscommunication and can quickly be resolved through a simple conversation. Without an exit interview, the individual in question could have gone on to speak negatively about your school to other organizations and in online reviews.
Builds a Positive Culture
When you find out the cause for a staff member or family’s unhappiness, you can immediately take steps to fix the issue. If one staff or family member was feeling unhappy, odds are others were too. By taking steps to fix issues with your staff and families, you’ll create a better environment where your team and families will feel stable.
